Somatic Experiencing
I create a safe container and use gentle approaches to guide clients – of all ages– to listen to their body’s wisdom, which allows them to move and feel more freely in the present moment.
Somatic Experiencing (SE™), originated by Dr. Peter A. Levine, is a body-oriented modality used for healing trauma, allowing the client more emotional control and freedom.
It is based on a multidisciplinary intersection of many practices, and has been clinically applied for more than four decades.
I work with clients of all ages, using SE to help them revisit the past, release traumatic shock — and the accompanying overwhelming feelings — with the goal of freeing them to access greater spontaneity and joy.
During a typical Somatic Experiencing session…
I help my clients learn how to self-regulate their emotional/physical body through breathing, drawing, and movement. The work leads to a deeper understanding of the inner experience and recognition of nervous system patterns.
Benefits of Somatic Experiencing may include…
Enhanced awareness of a “triggered” state
Ability to rebound from stressors and triggers
Greater access to spontaneity and joy
